WE DID THIS TOGETHER

VISIONING + STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT
IMMEDIATE, FOCUSED RESULTS
ORGANIZATION-WIDE TRANSFORMATION

Recall a seemingly impossible challenge you’ve faced. How did you begin to solve it? Did you begin? At Kotter we’ve seen many impossibilities come true – like when a government sponsored Italian utility made a three-decade technological leap into the future against incredible odds. Implementing SAP under the most agreeable conditions is no small feat. Imagine being able to go from pen and paper to a mobile workforce management platform on time and on budget — only if your incomplete, inaccurate database got cleaned. While trying to outsource the task of cleaning their data, firms turned down the work. “No one can do this,” they were told.

Kotter believed more was possible. We aligned their senior leaders around the criticality of the opportunity before them – they could transform from a sleepy monopoly to a model for Europe in customer responsiveness, efficiency, and business performance. We then helped them organize themselves to create urgency across the organization. A core team of 85 volunteers knocked on doors and knocked down walls to get missing addresses, find meters – whatever was needed. In just 90 days all 150,000 data points were cleaned. This visible success accelerated a movement across the organization. Since then over one hundred million Euros in unpaid bills have been collected; a 50 day procurement process was reduced to less than 10; people now believe that change can happen here – and stick. Together we’ve bolstered the bottom line and built a culture of belief.

These results and initiatives have an extraordinary and immense value. They contribute not only to the spirit of the participants, but show with evidence and tangible clarity that this dual system is, for us, reachable and doable.
