The Iceberg Education Program

 

Kotter International’s unique Iceberg Education Program can help individual contributors discover how to begin a journey of transformation that can lead to dramatic changes from leaders at all levels. This program is based on the best-selling book, Our Iceberg Is Melting, written by Dr. John Kotter and Holger Rathgeber, and has helped organizations and people all around the globe embark on powerful transformations.

 

Facilitated Workshop Session

 

During the program, participants learn about The 8-Step Process for Leading Change and how it can apply to their lives. Participants also reflect on the changes that they are experiencing, share those changes with others, and determine how to approach the changes in a productive manner consistent with The 8-Step Process. This workshop is designed to create a baseline understanding of the 8-Step Process for Leading Change, as well as to develop a common language that all employees can use.

 

Applied Learning

 

As part of their participation in the program, participants will receive a workbook to record answers to key questions about the change process, and will record their plan for taking action towards personal and professional change. Participants will also have access to session pre- and post-work to prepare them for the educational experience and to help them sustain their change efforts after the session.

 

Train-the-Trainer Session

 

A 1-day train-the-trainer session is offered with this program for selected facilitators to deliver the “Iceberg program.”  Participants will learn how to communicate the major learning points of the workshop to others and thereby increase their ability to use The 8-Step Process for Leading Change. As part of this process, participants will learn:

 

  • How to clearly explain The 8-Step Process for Leading Change to others, using Our Iceberg Is Melting as a metaphor
  • How to create a sense of urgency around changes that others identify as key to their own change efforts
  • How to facilitate individuals and groups to accelerate current change initiatives and develop change-ready people and organizations
  • Trainers will also have their facilitation skills evaluated by a Kotter International facilitator. Participants will receive the following upon completion of the program:
    • A facilitator guide and slide presentation for creating the facilitated workshop portion of the program.
    • Templates for creating materials to use in the facilitated workshop.
