What is a Big Opportunity Session?
Kotter International will work with your senior executive team to focus on your highest priority business issues, and the opportunities they represent for the organization. We will help your leadership team build alignment around those immediate, critical opportunities, as well as develop their competencies to lead large-scale change in the future.
The one-day session, tailored to the winning organization’s distinct challenges and opportunities, has three key goals:
- To align senior leaders around a compelling vision for the entire organization;
- To help senior leaders generate and sustain the sense of urgency among employees required to drive change forward; and
- To provide senior leaders with an opportunity to collectively own and stay enthusiastic as they work to transform their organization.
Our approach utilizes Dr. Kotter’s 8-Step Process for Leading Change. Many of the tools and techniques that are shared with the executive team during these sessions are not found in Dr. Kotter’s books, and have been developed through active engagement with clients seeking to implement large-scale change.
The core of the day will be the facilitation of the organization’s Big Opportunity. The goal of this work is to create a powerful Big Opportunity statement that the leadership buys into, can stand behind, and clearly defines the opportunity the organization has in leading proactive change.
Leaders will gain the skills needed to communicate that vision to their colleagues—the engine of any change effort—to excite them about the opportunities that lie ahead and to bring them on board as the change process gets moving.
Once the executive team creates and aligns behind The Big Opportunity statement, you will be ready to engage your organization in building urgency to move rapidly and effectively into the The 8-Step Process for Leading Change.
