Nancy Dearman

Nancy Dearman, together with John Kotter, built the predecessor company to Kotter International and served in various capacities for 18 years, most recently as its president. Currently, she is helping to build the Kotter International Center for Leaders.  As a founding member of Kotter International, Nancy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to serve the company’s vision of helping millions of people to become better leaders.

At the predecessor company, Kotter Associates, Nancy was instrumental in privately publishing Our Iceberg Is Melting: Changing and Succeeding Under Any Conditions by John Kotter and Holger Rathgeber. The book sold 15,000 copies in seven editions until the title was sold to St. Martins Press in 2006, where it became a New York Times bestseller. Nancy also developed two websites that present Kotter’s model on leading change and she developed multiple partner relationships that disseminate Kotter concepts through corporate training programs, video production and the web. She conducted in‐depth interviews with high-level executives from Fortune 500 companies to inform the research, advising and seminar work conducted by Kotter.

Prior to Kotter Associates, Nancy served as Vice President of Marketing at Fidelity Investments where she was responsible for the firm’s cash management account. In that capacity she redesigned the features of the account to match customer needs and lowered operating costs. Before taking on that role, Nancy was Vice President of Market Research for Fidelity’s retail company. She introduced the first customer satisfaction survey that became an annual study of customers’ perceptions of the company, and she reorganized the market research department to better focus analysts on product lines.

Nancy designed, proposed and conducted market research studies as a Senior Associate for Abt Associates. She was Project Director for the National Center for Education Statistics where she produced the mandated report for Congress, “The Condition of Education: A Statistical Report.” She started her career as Manager in the United States Postal Service. There she produced the monthly statistical report on Revenue, Pieces and Weight that informed the Postal Rate Commission decisions on postal rate changes and she conducted productivity improvement studies with teams in large city post offices

Nancy has a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a M.A. in Statistics from The George Washington University and a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Nancy resides in Cambridge, MA with her husband.
