Jimmy’s passion for enabling companies to accelerate the implementation of their most important strategies comes from 10 years of working with leaders to successfully lead change. By building critical leadership capabilities for large scale change, clients are able to leverage and mobilize their organizations to produce sustainable business result and resilient strategic partnerships – faster than they ever thought possible.
Before joining Kotter International, Jimmy worked with leaders to better design, initiate, and scale successful change efforts. As Chief of Staff for Peter Senge (author of The Fifth Discipline), Jimmy’s work included a research appointment at MIT, Network Coordinator for the Society for Organizational Learning, and Founding Partner of the Academy for Systemic Change.
In these contexts, Jimmy worked closely with Peter in creating and implementing best practices of leading whole system change. With Peter, Jimmy consulted Fortune 100 business executives, advised national political leaders, coached MBA and mid-career MIT students and coordinated large scale projects. During this time, Jimmy also served on Harvard Law School’s Mediation Program Curriculum Review Board and was a member of the teaching team for Harvard’s flagship negotiation course.
As a global consumer goods company undertook a new strategic direction, Jimmy helped design and implement a process to generate business results and lasting partnerships – particularly as they partnered with groups traditionally considered fierce competitors.
When a small technology company wanted to scale its operations’ entrepreneur culture globally – Jimmy helped them create the conditions for sustained innovation and creativity as they successfully entered markets previous thought to be impenetrable.
Prior to this, Jimmy earned his graduate degree from Harvard University, where he studied how adults learn in the team setting, and particularly how an integrated approach of adult developmental theory, systems thinking, and negotiation enables leaders to better initiate and sustain change.
Before consulting, Jimmy taught high school English in Virginia, South Carolina and Guatemala.
Jimmy earned advanced degrees from Harvard University, the University of Virginia, and the University of South Carolina. He resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
